Huffords Jewelry
Appraisals and Estate Services
Our estate services are led by Angela Chuquimia, GIA Graduate Gemologist and Estate Director, with over 25 years of experience in fine jewelry appraisal and estate evaluation. Whether you need insurance documentation, estate settlement support, or are simply curious about the value of a piece you own, we are here to help.
Appraisal Services
Every Huffords appraisal includes gemstone identification and grading, metal content determination, diamond descriptions with weight, shape, color, and clarity, colored gemstone descriptions, pearl identification and grading, color photography, and digital or printed copies of the completed report.
Intended to describe and document the quality of your jewelry and establish a credible replacement value for insurance coverage. Billed per item. If your piece is exceptional and any additional cost applies, you will be notified before we proceed.
Required when an estate is subject to federal estate tax. These detailed reports establish fair market value for each item through documented research including comparable auction sales. When applicable, our appraiser analyzes similarities and differences between comparable pieces to support the fair market value conclusion. Estate appraisals require more time and research and are billed accordingly.
For estates and trusts not subject to federal estate tax where documentation of every item is still desirable, such as for the equitable distribution of assets among heirs. These reports typically require less detailed market research than a full estate tax appraisal and are priced accordingly.
No printed report required. We provide metal and stone identification along with a value assessment in a straightforward consultation format. Ideal for clients who want a quick, knowledgeable evaluation without formal documentation.
Selling Your Jewelry
If you are looking to sell fine jewelry, estate pieces, or diamonds, Huffords offers two options depending on your timeline and the nature of your collection.
Consignment
We select high-end designer pieces, significant period jewelry, and one-of-a-kind items to sell on consignment through our estate cases and online store. You set an agreed-upon price and receive payment when the item sells. Best for clients who are not in a hurry and want to maximize the return on exceptional pieces.
Cash Offer
If you prefer to liquidate quickly or your pieces are not a fit for consignment, we make cash offers in most situations. Bring your pieces in for an evaluation and we will provide a fair offer based on current market value. No obligation, no pressure.
